What we do

Hackathons have experienced a steep rise in popularity over the past decade.

Practitioners and researchers have developed a vast treasure trove of (practical) knowledge organizing and studying hackathon events, but our understanding of motivations and best practices is largely limited to single domains.

We are building a growing and interdisciplinary community of practitioners and researchers of hackathons, hackweeks, data dives, codefests, edit-a-thons and other time-bounded events in order to foster an exchange of knowledge and best practices. You can find more information about our upcoming workshop below.

Our upcoming workshop

Geneva, Nov 6-10, 2023

Hack the Hackathon 3 will be held as a hybrid meeting both at the at the SDG Solution Space in Geneva, Switzerland, and online. For this third iteration, we aim to build on conversations started at the first two workshops, as well as develop new ideas and initiatives, and continue to grow and expand the community of hackathon practitioners and researchers.

This year, we join forces with IdeaSquare at CERN and the UN Library with an emphasis on promoting civic engagement.

More information about the program will be available here soon. Stay tuned!
